Such a shame that they didn’t keep the old Gothic structure, which is one of a kind and history passed down through the ages. Instead, they made a box shaped concrete, stamped pad mansion that everybody else has.

Pickfair should not have been demolished! It should've been declared a historic landmark and restored. Shame on people who purchase historic buildings just to demolish them. Of course that decision came from a foreigner; he had no emotional connection to it at all.

Chatsworth, where it is more economical to gild the windows rather than paint them (i.e. the gold will last for 30 - 40 years, they would need to be painted about every 8 years - from a televised tour given by the 11th duke). It's a pity that th Paxton greenhouses are no longer standing at Chatsworth. There are 2 missing homes. Hardwick Hall had to be donated to offset brutal death duties of the duke who died just before the family trust became official. Like all too many city mansions in cities like London, New York, Chicago, etc., Devonshire House was sold to be demolished for new construction.

I grew up north of there outside Foxborough and it used to freak me out that these castles were like the summer homes of the super rich on the 19th century. They spent like a couple weeks there a year, places so big they would never use 1/10th of the space inside even with guests or parties. it's all just so creepy

I don't like the architecture, prefer something more modern and less ornate. But appreciate the amazing location and how it is part of the city's history. I spent time outside when I visited the city, and love its closeness to Central Park. Would not turn down the opportunity to live there, for sure 😂

they should tear down the Capitol records building and the Governors mansion too.. Historic Preservation is a scam and rigged for unconcerned people to profit from.. All over America Historic districts are just a way for cities and counties to profit from the Federal Government. They don't care about you and what you think only the profit they will get by dozing the properties they demolish. someday they will also demolish San Simeon too.. just you wait and see.. They really don't care about history here unless they have wealthy people who'll put out very large sums of money to keep them active. Remember it's all rigged by those in high places and only if they are profiting from it then they'll act like they are interested. Imho.Earthquakes don't do as much damage as you think, it's the politicians and people who are behind it all that do the most damage. Life before this current Government administration was some of the best of times here in America, but from now on they rule with a Tyrant and his cronies. Criminals, deception, lies and crooks = Corruption. just a reminder, History is bound to repeat itself wither we want it too or not.

With the lack of construction photos other than a couple of the mansion seemingly completed with scaffolding and cranes in place… and the ridiculous 2 year span in 1893-1895 to complete this incredible property… Makes it something to look deeper into… Much of our history has been corrupted… Once you discover that the past 5 generations have been convinced from those who claim to know more than us that we are evolved monkeys living on a Spinning Space Rock… But in fact we are divinely created and live on a divinely created enclosed stationary plane earth… don’t believe what I say do your own research… Peace
